  • God is revealing Himself today. Where do I see it?

  • What are our gifts? We all have them. Look within. Look deeply. Be honest.
  • When Jesus said, “It is better for you that I go.” Explain how that could be better. In what way was it better? What would happen if He left?

  • God does not see as we see. We look at appearances. God looks into the heart.
  • What do we do? Assume that God will give us what we need to get the job done? Or back down because of obstacles.

  • When we look at anything through eyes that are cynical, jealous or bitter we will not see correctly.

  • The spirit of God dwells in us.  What does that mean to me personally?
  • How do I practice love of neighbor in my everyday life?
  • How far am I willing to go in loving my neighbor?
  • Who are my enemies?  And how do I show love for them?
  • What is common in many liberal and conservative groups is anger, resentment, giving back in kind, and hatred of those who hold a different view, and us vs them mentality.

  • Falling in love happens, it is not a choice. Staying in love requires constant choosing.
  • What is the wisdom of our world? Where has it taken us?
  • What has happened to Integrity? Honesty? Truthfulness? Justice? Respect?
  • What is more important: the letter of the law or the spirit?
  • This above all: To thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, thou cannot be false to anyone.
  • Is it more important to be right or to do right?

  • Is the Holy Spirit at work in your world? If Yes, when and where do you see it?
  • Like the dawn, light penetrates. It overcomes the darkness.
  • Light is ineffective if it is hidden. Salt is ineffective if it loses its ability to flavor.
  • How am I a light? How am I like salt, that slowly, surely flavors the world around me: My home, My job, My parish, My family?
  • We are called to season the lives of others. We are called to be a beacon of light for others.

  • Jesus calls us to be a disciple, a friend, a co-worker. Its our choice.
  • What will the future be like in 5 years?  In 10 years?  In 25 years?
  • What can I do to change the course of history? First and foremost, I can because I have been called to do just that.

  • Which one of us is the smartest?, the wealthiest, the most successful?, has the nicest house, the newest car?, and because of that, the happiest?

  • What kind of Messiah do I want? What kind of Messiah do I need? What kind of Messiah did I get?

  • What is it we are afraid of? Examine our fears. Serenity Prayer: Oh Lord grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change. What can’t I change? Why do I resist change?

  • Who is it that we serve? How does God reveal Himself to me? Examine the ways. Relationship is a great mystery. It surrounds all of us. What are the great relationships of our lives? The relationship of love, of friendship, of being a father, mother, brother, sister? Each is a mystery in itself.
  • The truth is hard to listen to: it needs to be faced, head on. It will set you free.

  • You can’t want the good in others if all you can see is the bad in them. It is the opposite of love.
  • What do I complain about the most? What good does it do? And why do I continue to do it?
  • Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. What does that mean?
  • Has anyone found the fountain of youth? How many products promise this and more? Miracle drugs etc.
  • Be compassionate. Could that be the answer? Could love one another also be the answer?

  • Why do we always need proof? Where is faith and personal trust?

  • If God sent a prophet, would that person be recognized in today’s society? He did send a prophet in the 1st century and that prophet was rejected. His name was Jesus.
  • Are there prophets in our midst today who are being rejected?
  • If we hear the truth are we willing to listen. For example, DDT, and it’s impact on the environment, cigarettes causing cancer.

  • Note the hypocrisy of their approach to Jesus pretending that they were sincere and honest when actually they were setting a trap and plotting his death. How could they be so blind? Is there a similar hypocrisy today?
  • Note the hand of God at work in the first reading where the pagan king, Cyrus released the Jews from captivity in Babylon. How is the hand of God at work today?
